TATA V/S CYRUS MISTRY: A CASE STUDY
Author: Nitin Sharma, Rishabh Gupta

This study examines the high-profile legal battle between Cyrus Mistry, former chairman of Tata Sons, and the Tata Group, a leading Indian conglomerate. Mistry, whose family held a significant stake in Tata Sons, was abruptly removed from his position in 2016. The ensuing dispute centred on allegations of oppression and mismanagement by the Tata Group, which Mistry contested.
The case traversed various legal forums, with Mistry claiming unfair dismissal and seeking reinstatement. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) initially dismissed his petition, but the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) ruled in his favor, ordering his return as chairman. However, the Supreme Court ultimately upheld Tata Sons' decision, finding their removal of Mistry a valid exercise of majority shareholder power.
The case delves into potential reasons for Mistry's removal, including concerns over specific business deals and potential conflicts of interest. The outcome has significant implications for Indian corporate governance. It reinforces the power of majority shareholders in board decisions, even against the wishes of minority shareholders. However, the case also raises questions about minority shareholder protection and the need for potential reforms to the Companies Act.
Beyond legal ramifications, the controversy has tarnished the image of the Tata Group and its former chairman, Ratan Tata. The case serves as a cautionary tale for corporate governance, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, and fair treatment of all stakeholders.

THE ROLE OF PILGRIMAGE TOURISM IN PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: A CASE STUDY OF HARIDWAR.
Author: Rajeev Kumar, Yasmin Ameer

Tourism has seen a global rise over recent decades, with religious tourism standing out due to its historical significance. Haridwar, located at 29°58′ N latitude and 78°10′ E longitude, is a prominent religious destination for Hindus and attracts both domestic and international visitors due to its stunning geographical setting and rich cultural resources. Tourism undoubtedly contributes to regional economic development, and Haridwar is no exception. As a key religious site, it has unique characteristics, but the influx of tourists, especially during religious festivals, has led to significant environmental pollution. This paper aims to assess the tourism infrastructure, evaluate the economic impact of religious tourism, and address the environmental challenges associated with tourism development. Additionally, it offers recommendations for enhancing tourism in the region. This paper evaluates the sustainability of tourism in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, where tourism plays a crucial role in the local economy. However, the city's tourism environment is increasingly threatened by the ongoing degradation of natural resources. The aim of the study is to assess the sustainability of tourism with respect to both ecological impact and the local community in Haridwar. The research, conducted using data from various secondary sources and an extensive field survey from 2000 to 2022 employs scientific methods to analyse the situation. The paper highlights the conflicts between tourism activities and the conservation of natural resources, noting that unchecked tourism has negatively affected the quality of the Ganga River water and the city's infrastructure. The author provides a critical review of Haridwar's Master Plan and recommends scientific measures for promoting sustainable tourism, with a particular emphasis on ecotourism.

SOCIAL INJUSTICE IN MODERNIST LITERATURE
Author: Prabha Parmar, Prachi Dutt

A significant departure from conventional narrative structures and an in-depth examination of the intricacies of the human condition characterized the rise of modernist literature in the late 19th and early 20th century. When one group of individuals in a society is treated unfairly and suffers disadvantages, this is referred to as social injustice. Significant social, political, and technological developments during this time led authors to address issues of social injustice, identity, and alienation. A variety of social issues that surfaced in the aftermath of World War I were addressed by modernist writers. This essay explores how, in response to the turbulent times of their day, modernist authors tackled social injustices such racial inequity, gender oppression, and class inequality.
