Abstract
ABSTRACT
Workplaces in the twenty-first century are characterized by unprecedented diversity, particularly with respect to generational composition. Employees from multiple generations—ranging from Baby Boomers to Generation Z—now work side by side, bringing distinct values, work ethics, communication preferences, and technological orientations. While this diversity has the potential to enrich organizational culture and enhance workplace efficacy, it also poses challenges in terms of conflict, miscommunication, and differences in expectations. The present study investigates the impact of generational diversity on workplace efficacy. A qualitative research design based on secondary data analysis was adopted. A systematic desk
review was followed to analyse the literature. Findings reveal both the synergies and tensions that emerge in multigenerational workplaces in the service sector, highlighting the critical role of human resource practices in managing diversity. The study contributes to the existing and evolving literature on workforce diversity by offering sector-specific insights and practical recommendations for organizational leaders. It underscores the need for adaptive HR strategies, inclusive leadership, and flexible policies to
harness the benefits of generational diversity while minimizing potential drawbacks.
