ABSTRACT
Due to the increase of women in the workforce and the pressures of struggling between work and home obligations, Work Life Balance (WLB) has become a crucial issue for women employees. The purpose of this literature review is to compile the knowledge regarding WLB among women employees in a variety of occupational sectors. A search of relevant databases initially identified 1120 records. After screening the articles, a sample of 86 articles were filtered using PRISMA. The review has considered the articles published between 2021 and 2025 by categorizing the literature into five sectors. The results showed that the most frequent obstacles to attain WLB were work-family conflict, long work hours, occupational stress, caregiving duties, workload pressures, and gendered cultural expectations. On the other hand, supportive leadership, flexible work schedules, organizational assistance, family support and pleasant workplace cultures were seen as important facilitators. The review also shows that poor WLB leads to stress, burnout and intentions to leave the job while a better WLB improves job satisfaction, employee engagement, psychological well-being and employee retention. By offering a thorough sector wise understanding of women’s WLB, the review adds to expanding corpus of literature.
